A few years ago you would not have thought possible, but the budget airline AirAsia X offers flights from Australia to London from only $ 1200 return. Low cost airlines have changed the travel habits, which are more affordable to travel. Now, with one all the way to London, the way Europe is cheaper than ever. Return flight to London with Qantas is about about $ 2,000, so saving is very good. But you fly low cost to Europe to save money? I’m not. I flew to Asia, no frills and must admit I was pleasantly surprised by Jetstar – I thought it would be much worse. But all the way to Europe? No thanks. Being Irish, I have long distance flown, how many times and it was no frills. 24 hours is a long time and the so-called frills on the run, only the things you want, I often travel alone Europe’s entertainment system (on the back seat, not on my knees, thank you) is essential! No book is interesting enough, or your iPod battery is strong enough to keep me entertained for a full day.
Constant stream of free drinks and snacks between meals is also invaluable (especially white wine).
And do not start me on the flight socks and blankets. On a plane is similar to that in Melbourne – it’s like four seasons in one day. Freezing a minute to warm the next. Granted, you can still get your decorations budget airline, but you pay for them, and all wear. I think that cheap flights to Europe is great – more people can afford to travel, and the increased competition can only be good. But now I am glad to pay extra for reliability, service, entertainment and blankets. Yes, watch chick movies continuously complain about your partner is priceless.
